The sudden death of Don wargon is the only topic trending currently on social media.Despite it being sad enough for a country to lose a young energetic man. A lot of people have taken this development as an advantage to express their concerns. Saying that Malawi only glorifies people’s greatness when they are gone.
He was based in Lilongwe, Area 18 A, died on 22nd August, 2019 in a road accident in Ntcheu. He started music about 10 years ago back in high school. So as an artist, he was inspired by Jamaican artists among them is vybz kartel, Masicka, Sparta, Agent Sasco just to mention but a few. He was a fan of some Malawian Dancehall heavy weights like Blacka fella, Joe Borne, ishan capital and awiri’.
Essentially he was interested in works that calls for the participation of the audience to the same extent as his involvement in it. He was not doing any collaborations with any big artist and this made him a solo rider and Most of his songs were produced by Angry Dawg Records of which he was a CEO and producer. Wargon was about to release an album and was expected to drop it this year 2019.
Don wargon who’s real name was Harris Gondwe, As the news over his sudden death came through circulating. Alot of people took to social media to express their concerns. The number of people concerned was too big to compare to his fan base. For a raggae dancehall artist of his calibre who has made strides to achieve greatness in music. It wouldn’t be a strange thing seeing people concerned over his death. “We have seen how much love Malawi has over ones death” one upcoming artist had to put this statement as his whatsapp status.

But to some this was strange. And they concluded it by saying that Malawians celebrates people’s success when they are gone. Why is it like this?
Our research has shown that despite being the best as far as raggae dancehall is concerned in the country. His talent wasn’t appreciated and was never supported to help him reach his full potential. Only to see the country flatter him at a dark hour. Don as a producer and an artist has done a lot for the country than what he was known for.
One of Malawi’s top rappers Classick took to twitter. As he expressed his disbelief. He also indicated that he is postponing the release of “summer Jam theme song. Which was set for release on the 22nd of August. In his tweet he said.
“Very sad to say I have postponed release of the summer jam theme song to Monday. I have lost a very close friend of mine and a dope artist. Rest In Peace Harris Gondwe aka Don Wagon. When i’ll shine you’ll shine.”

Most replies to the tweet were condolences in nature. And they was mostly expression of disbelief and shock. As the country is still morning his death.
