Fashion In The Dust Dazzles At Tumaini 2019

Tumaini Arts and Cultural Festival 2019 took place over the weekend from Friday 1st to Saturday 2nd November at Dzaleka Refugee Camp, Dowa.

It was an eventful weekend in which music, poetry, drama and fashion cultures from across the world were celebrated.

As part of Mzuzu Fashion Week (MzFW)’s Corporate Social Responsibility, the firm held a free fashion event dubbed “Fashion In The Dust”. It was a spectacle to watch.

[ngg src=”galleries” display=”basic_thumbnail” thumbnail_crop=”0″]According to MzFW ‘s Zikani Nyirenda, “Fashion In The Dust” was organised in a bid to appreciate cultural exchange through fashion and art.

“Mzuzu Fashion Week team trains fashion designers, tailors and distributors on the technical skills and fashion forward business skills required for success.

“All models but 3 were Dzaleka based. Three designers showcased. Roy view of RVD. Iza by Isabel King and Shalex designs by Shalex. We, as Mzuzu Fashion Week also curated the show,” Nyirenda explained.
One commentator, Giyani Moyo described the fashion show as innovative, fantastic and ghetto fabulous.

In his remarks, Tumaini Festival founder Menes La Plume said the event will continue being innovative as it grows bigger and better.

“We welcome all innovative ideas hence you can see that we bring something new every year,” Menes said.

He further thanked UNHCR, Plan International, Malawi Government for making the festival possible.
