Kriss Kross is arguably the first youngest duo to hit superstardom status and pave way for kids in mainstream rap industry.

In 2000s, teenagers like Lil Bow Wow and Lil Romeo emerged and became dominant forces, selling millions of albums, touring the world and winning awards.

Fast forward to 2020, comes Malawi’s first child Hip Hop star, Pesty C.

Born Peace Dickson, Pesty C is a 14 year old rapper hailing from Manase in Blantyre.

“I gave myself Pesty C because I am a big Nasty C fan. I love listening to Nasty C,” he admitted.

Born on 23 December, 2006, Pesty C started music in 2013.

At the age of 14, he has 30 songs including the recently released hit single “Hustle” produced by Dare Devilz.

“I have so many songs. I am going to drop an EP but not now. We want to focus on pushing the new “Hustle” single,” he said.

“Hustle” was premiered a few weeks ago on MBC Radio 2’s Made on Monday with Joy Nathu.

In his renarks, one half of the Dare Devilz, Marcus KG described Pesty C as a talented kid in need of direction.

“He certainly needs direction hence 3rd Eye and us were there to steer him in the right direction musicallu. But, the kid came and impressed. He knew how to ride a beat and the lyrics are fire. He is very thoughtful and in the moment,” Marcus observed.

He further advised Pesty C to have a right attitude.

“He is going to thrive. And by that I mean if he tries to. He should not get caught up in the moment and should just stay focused on music. He will be up there,” Marcus advised.

Other Pesty C songs are “Tizalowa Tonse” and “Ex UsandiBhowe” featuring Tay Grin.

Besides Tay-Grin, Pesty C has also collaborated with Piksy, DJ Nathan Tunes, Leo-B, Grinade, K-wizz and Jay-Done.

He has worked with producers such as Dare Devilz, Ace, Gusto, Runbwoy, Steve Spesho and Daff.

He likes listening to Gwamba, but he wants to become like Episodz.

Pesty C is currently studying at Manyowe Primary School in Standard 7.

Quizzed if music doesn’t interfere with school, he said, “I manage my time. I know when to study and I do music in my leisure time.”

Pesty C was quick to urge fellow kids to work hard and focus on their goals.
