Barcelona announced this Friday that Antoine Griezmann will wear the number 7 shirt next season, but he did so in a rather curious way. And the thing is the person who announced the news was NBA star Kevin Durant. He wears the number 7 shirt for the Brooklyn Nets.
Antoine Griezmann will wear the number seven shirt again, this time at Barcelona. The French striker had to wear number 17 last season because Philippe Coutinho already had it.
The Frenchman wore this number while he was at Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid and also for France. After a year with the 17 shirt, he is back to being the number 7.
It was announced in rather interesting fashion because the person to announce the news was basketball player Kevin Durant.
The Brooklyn Nets star appears in a short video shared by Barca on social media which shows Durant with Griezmann’s number 7 shirt. An identical jersey with Durant’s name on the back is also seen in the video.
“Welcome again to the number 7,” the man who won the NBA with the Golden State Warriors said. The tweet also included the hashtag “#Grie7mann”.
