18 Plus Media Project has donated laptops and other assorted learning materials to 3 needy students who were selected to public universities in Mulanje.
The assorted items included school bags, laptop bags and stationary.
Speaking in an interview, 18 Plus Media Project Officer Memory Mbewe said the donation was made to encourage the students to go on with their education as well as encourage others coming after them.
“This is the first set of students to be selected to public universities since the school opened in late 1990’s.
“This donation also aims at celebrating the students as members that took to heart what was being taught in their clubs to not marry young but stay in school,” Mbewe explained.
All of the students were from Namphungo CDSS 18 plus clubs.
The students are Tiyanjane Muliwa who is going to Mzuzu University to study value chain agriculture, Yamikani Chimtengo going to Chanco to study bachelor of science education mathematics and Chisomo Chalumpha who was selected to luanar to study bachelor of science in agronomy.
In her remarks, Yamikani Chintengo said the donation has boosted her morale.
“I had a feeling of despair after hearing that I will need a computer and other stationary. I was asking myself so many questions on how I would get a computer. This donation has really boosted my morale,” she said.
